Dessie City Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations is the largest and oldest association of merchant associations in the Amhara region. Its historical origin was established by Proclamation No. 148/70 on July 21, 1976 under the name Desi City Chamber of Commerce.
The Council is a non-profit, politically independent NGO. Now the Desi City Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations is expanding its horizons and turning its attention to the business community and conducting a series of training and awareness activities for the business community in the areas of taxation, trade and related issues. Currently, there are 11 board members who preside over the council after the General Assembly. It has one secretary-general who executes the decisions of the board. It has 10 permanent and 10 temporary, with a total of 20 office staff. Among them 6 are men and 14 women and 20 in total. On a site of 445.95 km² taken from the city administration at a lease starting price, Dessie Wollo has built a B+G+6 multipurpose building in front of the plateau of culture and has started generating income by leasing all the finished floors.
